Chris Stearns: Instructor, SBGi Purple Belt

Chris Stearns: Instructor, SBGi Purple Belt

  • SBGi Purple Belt
  • Chris began training at the Portland Gym in 2005. He had no previous martial arts, or combat sport training. In 2009 he received his purple belt, and has won multiple golds and first place finishes in both gi, and no-gi competition. He is also turned out to be an excellent Instructor, and can be found teaching popular classes several days a week at the Portland Gym.

Before bjj I was an avid runner and cyclist, I completed 3 marathons and several triathlons before training brazilian jiu jitsu became a huge part of my life. I pay the bills by being a produce manager at a local grocer.

I like to compete as much as possible. I have won many of the local tournaments at blue and purple belt. I usually compete at middle weight or light heavy. I have competed in the world championships of brazilian jiu jitsu twice and will be competing in 2011 as well.

Since moving to Portland about 6 years ago, training at Straight Blast has been a major part of my life. I look forward to the future of the organization and see a bright future for many of the athletes and coaches who frequent our gym. One tribe one vibe!
