Artem Lobov Added to UFC 196
SBG Ireland’s Lobov Named On UFC 196 Card
Artem Lobov, SBG Ireland’s top prospect who made it all the way to the Ultimate Fighter finale in Las Vegas last year, has been named on the card of UFC 196. Lobov will face Alex White on February 6th at the MGM Grand, just two months after his TUF finale loss to Ryan Hall. Despite the loss, TUF proved an incredible advert for the rise of SBG. Not only did Artem Lobov reach the finale, but the eventual winner, Ryan Hall, only appeared as a replacement for SBG Mainline’s Saul Rogers, in what would have been an all-SBG finale had it not been for visa issues.
“The Russian Hammer”, Artem Lobov, has a professional record of 11-11-1, including wins in multiple major organizations across Europe spanning the past five years. After losing his elimination-round bout in the Ultimate Fighter, he was brought back by SBG teammate and TUF coach Conor McGregor, before securing three emphatic wins on his way to the final. His performances in those fights, alongside the decision loss in the finale, have proved enough for him to be added to the UFC 196 card next month.
Lobov’s opponent, Alex White, has a professional record of 10-2, with an impressive “Performance of the Night” KO on his UFC debut being followed by two defeats in the Octagon. All three of those UFC fights came in 2014, with injury forcing him out of action since then. White faces a tough test against SBG Ireland’s latest UFC addition. Lobov follows Conor McGregor, Gunnar Nelson, Paddy Holohan, Aisling Daly and Cathal Pendred into the UFC, and if the performances of those athletes in 2015 are anything to go by, 2016 promises to be a great year for SBG in the UFC. Good luck to Artem Lobov and the whole SBG Ireland team in their preparations for the UFC 196 event. The whole tribe cannot wait to see another SBG face on a UFC card!
