Aisling Daly Announced for UFC Hamburg
SBG Ireland’s Daly To Fight Michelle Waterford in September
The last time we saw Aisling Daly in the Octagon, she was having her hand raised in front of her home crowd last October. Her win came by way of decision after three rounds with Ericka Almeida, extending her UFC record to 2-1. After an exhilarating, goosebump-inducing walk-out moment that serves as one of the highlights of Daly’s career, she proceeded to dominate for the full three rounds, taking her opponent to the ground with ease and controlling proceedings throughout.
But since that night at UFC Fight Night Dublin, finding another bout close to Daly’s traveling fans has proved tricky. Efforts to get added to a European card have been foiled on more than one occasion, as she was unable to get onto cards in London and Zagreb. However, the wait is finally over, as, after some effort and a popular social media campaign, Aisling has been added to the card for UFC Hamburg!
While SBG tribe members have had to wait some ten months for Daly’s return, her opponent has had to wait even longer since her last outing. Aisling Daly will face Michelle Waterford on September 3rd, an athlete who won her UFC debut by third round submission, before suffering a knee injury that has kept her on the sidelines for a year. Waterford was previously the Invicta FC atomweight champion, and comes into the contest with Daly with a pro record of 13-4.
Aisling Daly is currently in the US visiting other SBG gyms, and is an exciting attendee for this year’s SBG Ladies Camp taking place this weekend. Ever-popular with everyone at SBG, it will be great to see Aisling finally back in the Octagon where she belongs! Best of luck in your preparations for your next fight, Aisling, we can’t wait to join the thousands of travelling Irish fans supporting you!
